Are these items causing computer to slow down?

Hi. I don't know the correct category for this question so I apologize if it's in the wrong category. I have an HP Pavilion dv5 2074 laptop (which I bought in 2010) running Windows 7. I’ve been having problems with my computer slowing to a crawl for at least the last year. I recently downloaded Agent Ransack because the search feature for Microsoft Word is not finding many documents that I know are on my computer. Agent Ransack is finding all the documents I search for and so far I’m very happy with it. I just ran a search for a document and it unexpectedly came up with some items that I had no idea were on my computer (please see attached print screens - I'm not sure I downloaded them correctly, so if you can't see them, just ignore this question and I'll try again later). Apparently these items are codecs and may have something to do with bit torrents. I have never knowingly downloaded anything which involved bit torrents. In fact, I go out of my way to avoid them. Does anyone know what the items in the attachments are and how they could have gotten onto my computer? Is it possible that they have something to do with my computer slowing down? Is there anything I should do to track down any items that are related to these and remove them from my computer? Scary thought: I found these by accident - how many more unwanted and possibly dangerous items might be on my computer and how do I find them? Thanks in advance.
