most of my desktop icons have changed to VLC

Hello tech guys

I don't know what i did last night,most of my desktop and start menu icons (including browsers) have changed to VLC media player.when i try to open any browser by double clicking vlc opens but then nothing happens.browsers works fine when i open them by clicking right mouse button.movies and other programmes works fine.I tried to restore my computer but nothing happens then I uninstalled vlc and restarted my computer.all icons got back to their original form.but when i reinstalled vlc, again same problem appeared.please help me solving this problem.
