I am getting a message on my laptop that "windows has detected a hard disk problem". The message says to backup all my data and contact the computer manufacturer to see if I need to replace or repair my HD. I have not wasted the time trying to contact Samsung.
I backed up my data to a DVD and bought a new HD (same model as original). When I install the new HD I can't get the system to boot up using the backup I made. Computer says it cannot find an os.
From what I have read on this forum it sounds like when I follow the prompts and made the backup it does not include the os.
I reinstalled the old hd and I'm able to use it but the message keeps popping up.
Should I just buy a new os.........install new hd and load the new os onto it. Is there anything I can do to save (and use) my old os before the disk fails????
I have a desktop that is part of my home network that is running fine (also win7 but the laptop and desktop were purchased separately) .
Anyway I was hopping you forum members could help me do the right thing. Thanks in advance for any help.
