I have run into one of the stranger problems I have seen and looking for assistance / suggestions. What I have is a Windows 7 64 bit computer that does not print from Word, Excel, IE 11, Adobe Reader, Chrome (probably others); however does print from Notepad, Wordpad, MS Paint, and of course the printer's test page from within the printer property window. When printing from the apps that print, the job go to the spooler and then of course prints, apps that do not print, look as though they are printing from within the app, but the job never makes it to the spooler thus never prints. There is nothing in the system logs to show any spooler errors or any other indication the print job did not print.
Here is what I've done in attempts to resolve this. Remove all printer drivers and installed only Primo PDF to use as my test printer. Google Chrome was installed after the printing issue started to see if the issue was within the already installed apps. Google Chrome does NOT show a print preview screen; however; all other non printing apps show a correct print preview screen. Excel shows at the print screen when choosing a printer.. "Cannot connect to printer" when the Primo PDF is selected. I have created a new profile by creating a new administrator user. Virus / malware / root kit scans have been run, system is now clean.
