Prior to connecting a HD5450 graphics card into this pc, the sound and microphone sockets worked fine, we then installed the HD5450 card and used the HDMI cable and the sound was ok only through the TV (what I did not realise and now feel a bit of a numpty, is that the vga connector was not going to be used as the pc is a SFF - then realised that the VGA low profile bracket was included), the microphone and the sound would not work through the pc jacks.
After fitting this - I got a little carried away and could not remember why the sound and mic through the pc jacks would not work, I think that we have deleted the driver for this board.
Could anyone explain a way of getting the drivers back - went through the intel web site and ran the utility, this did not help. The pc is a refurb bought off the internet and was working fine until I started to mess with it, therefore there is no recovery disk and the pc does not have a cd writer, that I will have to fit from another pc I have, bolting door after horse gone springs to mind,
My son (who the pc was bought for) has installed minecraft and bio shock and for some reason - it may be that the pc has always had two partitions though I did not notice it, and the C partition is virtually full (31GB of 37GB) and the E partition is empty at 111GB. is it possible to remove the E, I assume this is for the recovery.
I have never used win 7 and it is a little worrying, do I need to run any other utility?
