Lost Icons

Hi:

I turned on my wife's computer yesterday, (Windows 7 Home 32 bit with 4Gig, PC1333, Matched Dual Channel Memory,) and when I got to the desktop, all of the Icons were missing and all I got was the blue wallpaper that I use for her background.

Does anyone know what happened to cause this problem, where the icons went and how to resolve the problem?
