The following occurred before before slow star
tup occurred.
I had left the computer running on itunes believing the charger unit to be switched on.
Unfortunately I had not switched the charger unit on and the computer closed down eventually as one would expect.
I simply switched the charger back on and played an on line streamed video.
However a short time later the video froze in full screen view .
I attempted to exit full screen view in order to close down the computer but failed to do so being unable to shut down the computer at all by the usual methods.
I was forced to disconnect the charging unit and remove the battery and then reinserting it.
From the menu that appeared I started windows normally.
However the time taken from the appearance of the windows logo to the login window took at least 5 minutes.
Logon itself took the usual short time of about 30 seconds.
Except for a few temporary glitches all applications including internet explorer 9 have behaved normally at the usual speeds.
However the startup problem remains which is rather irritating .
I have tried using the msconfig utility and unchecking unnecessary startup programs such as the HP utilities but this has made very little difference.
I have also tried system restore without success as well as the system file checker.
Any advice on this mattert would be most welcome.
