I was unable to switch on my computer (a Dell desktop with Windows 7, purchased in July of 2012). I had to shut it off manually because it wouldn't shut off on its own after an automatic Windows update that required a shutdown and restart. Then, when I tried to switch it on, it kept sending me to the diagnostic tool, which didn't find anything. I spoke to Dell and found out that my operating system became corrupted. (My hard drive is okay.) Even after the system was reinstalled to the factory setting, I could no longer log in using my username and password. So Dell is sending me a flash drive that it says will solve the problem. Can somebody explain if I should have done something else? I'm not good with computers at all. And have other users had similar problems with Windows 7? When I get the flash drive, I'll post what happened.
