Solved: BSOD only when plugging External HDD in

Hi guys, first off let me apologize if this post is in the wrong thread, first time doing this sort of thing.

so, I have a 500gb western digital hdd, I plugged it into my xbox one and used it for a while, but my sister wanted to borrow it so I removed it and went to format it using my laptop. It wouldn't appear in my computer, so using google I found a program that let me discover the HDD, this program scanned the drive and recognized that it had been used in an xbox one, so I was suggested to change it back to pc mode, I did, instant blue screen.

Now anytime I plug the HDD in, after a few seconds the laptop discovers the device and then blue screens.

I was able to navigate to device management quickly, clicked USB mass storage and it said there were no drivers installed, but it is supposed to have an auto play feature when plugged in, this is not appearing either.

Long story short, this has bemused me lol any help would be hugely appreciated guys.
