I have bee searching this forum for two threads and my problem involves both problems.
There is only one user who has Administrator privileges. The laptop keeps running chkdsk on boot up every time. I read about a dirty bit is set. When chkdsk runs, the results always appear normal - nothing is noted as bad happening or nothing is fixed.
I thought I would manually run the "fsutil dirty query c:" to see if the bit is set. When I run from a cmd prompt, I am told I need administrator privileges. So as a user with administrator rights is not enough.
I saw some commands to reset the bit but am concerned maybe something is going on with hard drive, or the bit got set and will not reset itself.
Not sure how to proceed, and would like for chkdsk to not run if not needed every time I boot.
When I just try to run chkdsk with no options I am told I need elevated privilages in the cmd prompt. I wanted to run chkdsk /f
And advice would be appreciated.
