NEW hARD DRIVE AND SYSTEM WONT BOOT

I Have A EMACHINE and the hard drive died. IT guy at work was nice enough to test it and confirm ..but I'm not working there anymore... So I replaced it with the same size, and brand drive. Seagate Barracuda 500 gb. I tried to start up the system with a recovery disk I had but no luck. I have gone into bios and configured it to start up 1), DVD, 2) Hard Drive, 3) Ram. Still no luck.
So I tried starting it up with my Windows 7 Home disk 64 bit it started loading (bar across bottom. of screen completed) then "Starting Windows" came on the screen and it just sits there.Tried Enter, space bar etc... I'm out of my league now please advise Thanks:
