Can't boot hangs at disk.sys

Hi, my laptop failed to boot, and none of the recovery options are working. I can get into Safe Mode, and it hangs at a driver called disk.sys. I can boot with an AVG Linux Rescue USB, and can see my documents. Googling the problem with this driver hasn't given much of a lead. It's a Samsung Notebook 300E.

Is there some sort of a diagnostic USB I can run that can pinpoint what the problem may be. Would appreciate any help,
