My recent post about this unit running hot and the screen graying out or going black has reoccurred and is frustrating. I ran the the laptop for over 50 hours non-stop, using it, running videos, playing music practically and after applying thermo compound the unit was running at only 47-49 degrees celsius. It never shut off, grayed or anything. All HDD diagnostics performed indicated a good hard drive, nothing wrong. In a word, it was running perfect. Power options all set not to shut off.

I took the computer this afternoon to the owner's house. She sets the unit on a hard counter top that is cool and away from any humidity or heat. We turned it on and it was running perfectly. Then, an hour or so later, I get a call that the unit is doing the same thing all over again. As I have mentioned, here in my house it runs perfectly. At her house the monitor seems to be shutting off and she hears a whirling sound. I did not hear that when I had it but she indicated the last time I worked on the unit that it was doing the same thing (sounds, graying screen, etc).

I instructed her to take it to a different part of the house and try plugging it into a different outlet not on the same circuit as the one in the kitchen she has been using. However, she is saying that on the battery alone it is also doing the same thing. And again, it never did that the entire week that I had it and was testing it.

Has anyone ever experienced this? If so, is there a fix? I just want to beat this damn thing with a hammer! :(
