Nosey Windows Media Sharing Service

Why does WMPNetwork Sharing Service have permission to read some of my personally written Word documents I have stored on my laptop? I noticed it when a document said it was locked for editing by me, I don't know why it was locked for that either. I checked the properties for the document and that's when I noticed it. I had previously turned off the service and stopped it from getting through my firewall (I thought!) because it was using way to many CPU's in my task manager and the computer was running really slow. Now after looking, everything is turned back on again! I'm feeling pretty paranoid, maybe.
Could someone also tell me how to include a screenshot or picture into these threads?
