been having the same problem with my laptop (HP Pavilion dv6) for the last 6 months or so...
The problem is that there is intermittent freezing of performance. This seems to happen irregardless of what the pc is actually doing. I can be simply browsing the net, like here for example, and the cursor will freeze, not be able to move for 10-15 seconds, along with browser windows loading for far too long. This also happens when I am using labour intensive programs like video editing, 3d animation software etc, spotify will freeze as well for a few seconds randomly as well as video.
I took my laptop apart about 3 months ago to clean the heatsink of dust. Putting it all back together proved to be a lot more difficult than I first thought, which led to a full assembly, then it not turning on. I took it apart again, put it back together and then it worked. I am really hoping this is not a hardware issue im having here, but it is possibly pointing in that direction since I have formatted the drive, re-installed windows 7 ultimate and am having the same problems.
I also suspect the graphics card, as it has crashed ('your amd card has stopped working and recovered..') a few times. I used to e able to do a lot more with my pc when its harddrive was loaded...any help would be great, it takes twice as long to do anything on here now.
