Win 7 slow/hanging- unable to resolve

Win 7 (64bit) HP box, AMD PhenomII x4 , 6GB ram

been dealing with hangs/ no response for about 4wks now. Went thru a malware investigation on another forum and couldn't find anything.(Adw, JRT, Mbar, eset) Thought an external backup drive was the cause (if fell), disconnected it, things ran better for a day, then back to hangs and no response. I resorted to a system restore prior to these events. This did not resolve the problem.
Things seem to go bad when the system is idle. I did find a pup.optional.fullspectrumadmin w/mbar on a safe mode boot scan prior to the system restore. I may have picked it up after those scans. Cleaned it, but still have same issues after sys. restore. I also had to reload Nortons as it got corrupted. file indexing is turned off. I see different kinds of errors in the Win event viewer but they are not consistent. Here's a security check to start with. Thanks for your help.
