Problem making a DVR app autostart

Client wants her DVR app and cameras to start up when the computer is started. The app and capture cards are a Chinese no-name combo. (The client is Chinese and got them from a Chinese friend.) As installed, there is a small app named "DVR.exe". When opened (e.g., from where it is pinned to taskbar), the app needs UAC approval (so being in startup folder is out). Once opened, it seems to start up another app "encode.exe". Then the camera control window appears with video from the cameras. (It also works properly if you open the 'encode' app directly.)

When I tried to use taskschd.msc to start either DVR.exe or encode.exe ('run with highest privileges', 'run at startup', 'whether or not [only] user is logged on', 'configure for Win 7'), nothing seems to happen. However, when I check task manager, I see the core app ("encode.exe") IS running. However, the user interface and camera windows are not visible. ???

Any suggestions on how to get this app to autostart?
