how do i add another display in windows 7 ?

Hi,

My current computer display is "Generic Non Pnp Monitor" and i want to change display to something else better which can be downloaded online, i don't know if i am thinking wrong but i want to get the screen resolution of 1366 which is popular resolution which i don't have now.
