I have a customer who has brought in his emachine desktop computer, Model# T5246 running Windows 7 Home Premium 32-Bit w/SP1. S/N (Service TAG): XC67C20010266.
When trying to logon with known password the following error pops up:
"The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded"
I can access the machine in Safe Mode (w/networking). Problem is, that's about all that I can do.
I tried downloading FixIt from Microsoft but the system doesn't download.
I watched the following video on YouTube that seemed to have the fix: (2:29) I know it's a lot to ask that someone view the video, but I am concerned that I will not adequately describe the process demonstrated in the clip.
I am only able to access Regedit via the command line in order to follow iYogi's recommendation to solve the problem.
However, in the video, the user account is in the file with no extension and the lady proceeds to rename that file to a file with the .bak extension while renaming the file that originally had the .bak extension to a file with no file extension.
If no happy solution can be found I will simply do a wipe and reload (which is probably the best option).
Thanks
