Hi all,
Recently, my Lenovo started dimming at random times. Its not the type of dimming where it just goes lighter by a bit, but the entire monitor dims to the extent that I cannot see anything unless I press my face against the screen where I can then make out the outlines of the browser and other stuff I was doing. This problem has plagued me for weeks and it comes at random times. Before it happened today, it hadn't occurred for almost a week.
The first few times it happened, I managed to get it back up by pressing the power button to send to sleep before turning it on again. However, now it remains dim and sometimes the screen flashes between normal lighting and the extreme dimming after I wake it up again.
My laptop is the Y560 on i7 420q and has 8gb ram. My graphics card is updated to the AMD Radeon HD 6570M/5700 Series after my previous graphic card that came with it started giving me tons of blue screens. I am on windows 7.
Other than sending it to sleep, I also tried just force shutting down but it just reboots with extreme dim and doesn't make it back to the normal lighting. I have also gone to the catalyst control center and unchecked the power play option. However, I don't have the varibright option that other users have because I googgled by problem previously and found this to be a solution even thought it hasn't worked. As of typing this, my computr is just flicking between dim and normal.
Hope you guys can help me! Thanks!
note: this situation has aggravated a lot and I'm lucky if I get to see 3 seconds of my screen on normal brightness. The send to sleep and wake it up again solution I used to employ doesn't work anymore and I literally just wait for it to flicker back to normal brightness before it quickly flickers back to darkness. I'm on another laptop currently. I can't really provide more info like the logs and stuff (im not a tech guru, im not familiar with these terms) since I can't run anything without spending 20 minutes trying to find my cursor.
