Hey...I'm looking for some helpwith my laptop.
I have an HP pavilion G6 1371-ea. A few days ago it started running really slow. My first thought was a virus so I tried to scan with Avg. That scan froze at 22%. I managed to do a scan with malwarebytes bu that didn't find anything. I tried an avg scan in safe mode but it wouldn't start and a boot scan with avast froze as well.
After doing some research I realized it could be a problem with the hard drive so I started chkdsk just over 24 hours ago. It's now on stage 4 or 5....not sure which as I had to leave it running when I went to work. It has been stuck on 10% for the last 13 hours with 42518 out of 289776 files processed. On the bit I can see 10 files have had bad clusters replaced. I know this can take a long time to complete but 13 hours on the same file seems excessive to me. The hdd light is on . The laptop has a6gb memory and 750 gb hard drive. Do I need to just leave it our should I force restart?
