For months now I have had system freezes, which can occur at any time, whether it be after 30 seconds, 3 hours or 3 days for that matter. The freeze leaves the image on the screen, but the cursor can't be moved and you can't change the state of the keyboard functions such as CAPS LOCK, SCROLL LOCK and NUM LOCK.
I have installed a fresh OS a while back and still get the error (that isn't to say I'm excluding any OS issues here). I have run MemTest for a few hours and everything passed that.
It could be a potential VGA card but I'd expect that to only freeze under load (unless the VGA has some faulty memory).
System specs:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Intel DX58SO Motherboard
Intel i7 980X processor
8GB DDR3 RAM (Crucial)
128GB OCZ Vertex 3 SSD
2TB WD HDD
Corsair HX1050 PSU (1050w)
Any suggestions? I've been looking at the event viewer after each crash and there's nothing unusual, but I suspect that's because the crash happens and Windows has no chance to log anything.
