U.K. Laptop

I have a U.K. laptop. My question is if you hookup the chager adapter from the U.K in the laptop here in the U.S. will it burn the battery or the whole computer. In other words this Laptop & Dc adapter is from the U.K. and we used the U.K. adapter to charge the laptop here i the united states. What will it burn the computer. The U.K. Adapter Is for 220 to 250 volts. In the U. S. it is 110 volts.
