8/13/13 win 7 updates

received 23 win 7 auto updates on 8/13/13. Now neither IE or Google Chrome work. Don't use IE much but default browser was Chrome. I have updated drivers, uninstalled & then reinstalled chrome. Many restarts. IE just causes a screen flicker, Chrome comes up in a new tab & won't do anything else. Tried to change settings, but nothing happens. I'm going to start uninstalling those 23 updates unless someone comes up with a better idea.
