One of my business customers ordered 8 Dell computers with Windows 7 32-bit 3 years ago, and only set up 6 at the time. They called me to set the other 2 up last week and one was completely DOA. Obviously no warranty/recourse. However, they just bought 2 new Dell PC's that were inadvertently ordered as Win 7 64-bit.
My question is can I use the Dell OEM Reinstall DVD from the DOA pc on one of these 2 new pc's (would reformat/remove 64 bit) along with the product key on the sticker on the DOA's case? Will it activate ok since that pc was never turned on?
( and to answer the questions I know some will have: 64 bit is not an option due to legacy software needs, and XP mode won't access the USB 3.0 ports on the new machines)
