Windows 7 64-Bit HP Photosmart B110a Wireless printer Install Problems
Hello friends, I'm writing this note to those of you that are experiencing the same nasty hassles with your HP Photosmart B110a wireless printer as I did whilst attempting to install into my Windows 7 64-Bit PC!
As you are already aware there is a plethora of info out there that quite simply can mush into one and everyone that encounters this install problem has their own unique experience. The following fix might not work for you but I want to get this out there so that you have a fighting chance at least.
For this fix I didn't need to have the USB lead connected to the printer and made use of the wireless facility instead, but I did make sure the printer was powered on throughout so make sure you've configured your printer to your particular Wi-Fi network first.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) If you have attempted to install your printer before reading this then it is likely that you have remnants of the install left on your system. Before continuing with the steps below you have to un-install any remaining HP printer programs from your system. Here's how:
1.1) Click start button in the 'Search programs and files'field type in %temp% thenpress enter.
1.2) Look for the 7z folder in the temp folder.
1.3) Open 7z folder and look for util folder open util & look for ccc folder open ccc folder look for level4 un-install batch file. Double click it to run. Wait for it to finish completely (you might have a pop-up window stating software didn't install correctly). If this happens just click 'This installed correctly'.
1.4)Proceed to run un-install level4 batch file then when finished restart your computer. Repeat steps to access %temp% directory then delete the 1st 7z folder. Then do the same process for the remaining 7z folders by opening util ccc runun-install level4 batch file restart your PC and delete any present 7z folders.
1.5) Once done go to add or remove programs (to un-install remaining HP printer software) by clicking start button and typing the word add in the 'Search programs and files'field. When all done restart your pc.
2) Click start button and in the 'Search programs and files'field type cmd then right click it at the top of the list that appears in order to run cmd as administrator. Then from the command line type 'sfc /scannow'(without quotes). This runs the system file checker that allows you to scan for and restore corruptions in Windows system files. If system file checker finds an issue with any of your protected files it will replace them / it. For me, system file checker didn't find problems but if yours does then be patient and careful with the steps to fix as it may damage your operating system if the steps are not executed properly.
2.1) Click this link: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...eriesId=503548 to download the HP Universal Print Driver for Windows.
2.3)Click the top line that states 'HP Universal Print Driver for Windows' then click 'Microsoft Windows 7 (64-Bit)' then click the 'Download' button next to 'HP Universal Print Driver for Windows PostScript' Don't choose PCL5 or PCL6 as they relate to laser printers.
2.4) Locate the download & double click to install then follow the on-screen prompts that appear. After installation go to Devices and Printers by typing 'devices' into the 'Search programs and files'field to check printer icon is present there. Right-click the icon & choose printer properties then click Advanced Tab then Print Processor button. The default print processor is winprint and default data type is RAW. Besides winprint, you should see another proprietary print processor on the list, e.g. Lexmark, HP, Dell. Select the print processor from your printer manufacturer then set the data type to RAW, and hit OK. (It's possible you might not have to set the print processor up here as it could already be correct).
2.5)After setting the print processor, click the Ports tab. Highlight the port for your printer and check Enable Bidirectional Support. (Bidirectional support might not be present). If there are many items in the Ports tab then check the properties of all that's listed to see if they match details. After comparing details just click OK to exit out.
2.6) Navigate to Devices and Printers by typing 'devices' into the 'Search programs and files'field then right-click the universal printer icon and select Printerproperties. Then click Print Test Page to make sure all is working.
If your HP Photosmart B110a does not scan:
Follow the steps below before re-installing the printer:
Click Start and then click Run. The Run dialog box opens.
Restart the network devices
Follow these steps to restart all the devices on the network the steps include turning off the computer.
