Can't open certain websites

I tried searching online for a solution to this problem but couldn't find it.
I cant open some websites like Walmart , xFire , Hostgator ,Princeton Review etc and all of the shortened URLs ( example : bit.ly )
I thought I can't open those websites just on my PC but I further noticed that I can't open them on my laptop as well
I use Google Chrome as a browser. I even tried using Firefox and IE.

The end result I get is :

Oops! Google Chrome could not find www.hostgator.com
Try reloading: www.hostgator.com
Additional suggestions:
Access a cached copy of www.hostgator.com
