My microsoft home and student 2010 has stopped working

I have tried to access word, powerpoint and excel on my HP notebook (this program was installed when I purchased the computer in 2010) I keep getting the message 'word/xcel/powerpoint cannot open'. I have tried registry repair to no avail and I wondered if anybody knew how to fix this - maybe uninstall and reload?:o
