problem restoring to an earlier date

face of home page suddenly changed completely.
no favorite bar...no google search on the page......all messed up. no probs getting on net though
so im trying to restore to a date maybe 4 days ago. windows 7 ultimate
heres what Im doing
start menu
right click computer
click properties
click system protection


after that is where the confusion and problems are setting in
every time I go to restore it keeps restoring me to like a few minutes ago
PLEASE HELP !! ASAP
