Hi,
Not too long ago, windows decided it would make my optical drive not work.
Its a SATA optical drive, and is not very old.
The cable for it is near brand new as well.
I've checked device manager, and the optical drive does not show up there at all, and it does not show if I scan for hardware changes.
In BIOS, it seems to have no problem seeing my optical drive, and I can boot windows CD's from the drive as well, so its something wrong with windows, not my optical drive or the cable.
The question is, WHAT could have caused this problem to suddenly come along?
I don't think i've installed anything new lately, so I just can't seem to figure it out...
The only thing I can think of that I've changed lately, is my graphics card (new, more powerful card installed).
Currently running optical drive as ch2 "slave".
Running Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit.
Intel i7
