I think my computer is dying..

Hi guys,

Sorry for the vague post title but I'm not too sure where to post this question as I am unsure as to what exactly my problem is..

I am currently running a rather old PC system on Windows 7. Its lasted me a good 5 years or so now however I'm feeling it may be on its last legs.

I primarily use this computer for gaming as I've been a game for quite sometime and this has never been an issue however, just lately when attempting to play any games or doing any too strenuous my PC cuts out and restarts. Sometimes its not able to reboot straight away so will restart itself again.. Its almost like a drunk person that falls over and attempts to get back up but cant? In the end I turn it off and wait a little while for it to blow over.

Now since this has been happening the display on my PC has gone a little weird too. Take a look at this screenshot:



The only issue that I would say it could be is that the computer is just a bit too old now, but it seems like a very sudden downfall in mechanics to be an age issue. I have just bought a new extension cable for my computer (admittedly its a rather cheap one), could this have anything to do with my PC cutting out?

Sorry to be so vague, but Im at a loss for words to explain any better.

If theres anything I could do to help you guys figure out a potential problem, I'd be grateful if you can let me know.
