This problem has been ongoing for a while, and it continues to baffle me. A few months ago the volume on my computer suddenly became much lower. First it was one laptop and then it was my second, and it happened around the same time. The sound settings on both laptops are at max across the board. The device manager in both laptops say the sound card is working properly and I checked to see if I had the most up to date drivers and it says I do.
So I'm stumped as to what is causing this. I do not use plug in speakers for either machine, I just use the standard internal speakers that came with both laptops. This leads me to believes that some form of malware is causing this but I'm running Avast internet security on both computers and it says nothing has infected them. So what is causing this mysterious low sound volume? It's the most frustrating issue I've ever encountered. One of the laptops is running Windows 7(the newer laptop) and the older one is running Windows Vista.
