I have Windows 7 on my desktop PC. Its backup feature will backup only onto a HDD or to the OD drive. I have a HDD that I can access through a USB port, and I make a backup image using Macrium free in that way. Also, I use the Windows 7 backup to create differential backups onto a memory stick for the personal data.
That is a rather cumbersome procedure, using an auxillary program, Macrium, though it seems to work.
It would be far simpler, from my point of view, if Windows 7's backup could be upgraded with a patch so that I could make a system image with it, just as I do differential backups.
How can I submit a request to Microsoft to provide such a patch for Windows 7? I get so many updates from Windows Update that it seems to me that Microsoft could provide an update for its system image backup to allow backups through the USB port - just as it allows differential backups to be done.
