Solved: Unable to take file ownership.

Working on an "appliance" system using Win7 Embedded Standard, and I need to take ownership of some files... but it appears the system manufacturer has left something out of their build (actually, it's not the first time I've run into issues with components "missing" from their builds, but that's another story). Manufacturer's support is useless - the files I need to change are on a NAS drive, and because they don't support NAS, they won't address the real issue, which is the lack of ability to change file ownership (and yes, I checked, it doesn't work with files on the local drive either).

Anyway, when I go to Properties -> Security -> Advanced -> Owner and then click Edit, I get the message "Can't open access control editor. The specified service does not exist as an installed service."

Now on my own Win7 desktop, I don't see any service specifically named that, so clearly it's something else non-obvious... but what? I figure I SHOULD be able to register the service, if I know what file(s) it needs, or even what the actual service name is.

Or can I maybe do it from command line?
