I am hoping to get this done without any hassle. Here's the deal-- In July 2011, I bought and downloaded Win 7 Home Premium Upgrade from the MS store.. I installed it on this computer (only original parts now are the Mobo and the HD) Did a lot of upgrades but used the same mobo for that little over 3 years.
Now it's time for the Mobo to be replaced, going to the Haswell CPU, LGA 1150. So I still have my old XP CD if it asks for it or will it recognize my old Win 7 install when I format my drive?
When I did the install in 2011 I had a problem- it would not accept the activation key. I remember making a lot of calls to MS Tech Spt and somebody there did some manipulating on his end and told me to re-install it again and put in the activation key. That time it took it. I think he told me I shouldn't have any future problems but I hate to trust "Big Corporations" lol. Plus it's been 3 years. This is my only computer and I want to get the thing running without any delay.
So if anyone has any ideas please let me know.
