Funky issue, can't ping intermittently

Been a while since i've been here... Wondering if I can get some ideas on a rediculous issue i'm having on a clients network. In 23 years I haven't seen this.

Intermittently, eight windows 7 computers lose access to the server, been going on for a week and at a loss for anymore ideas. When they lose access, they can't even ping the server - yet they can ping everything else. The server cannot ping their IP address.

- XP computers are not affected, most windows 7 computers are not affected.
- Server is windows 2003 domain controller, no firewalls in play. No errors to indicate issue in event viewer.
- Affected windows 7 are a mixed bag of hardware, no firewalls in play
- Network Switches have been swapped out
- Firewall has been swapped out, Endian firewall was showing drops over 137/138 to .255.
- Flashed the bios and upgraded drivers on affected windows 7.
- Ran various AV scanners (combofix etc), nothing.
- Plug in another computer to the same port and it works fine.
- Ran all the appropriate commands, netsh etc. Works for a short period, then drops again.
- If I change the dns, I can get internet fine but of course using the DC - no internet.
- Change the network port of an affected pc while doing a ping -t, I can get one reply but drops again.

I'm sure there's more, but you get the gist of the troubleshooting.

I'm at a loss...
