Windows 7 and 8 freeze, ubuntu doesn't

Hello,
My windows 7 computer freezes randomly. It can take 2 hours before it freezes, or it freezes 5 minutes after booting up. I updated the BIOS, reinstalled windows, did a RAM and HD check, (they both came out positive) and manually checked the PSU voltages. I also scanned my computer for viruses. No results either. My temperature is also low, 25 C for my GPU, 30 C for my GPU. So that can't be the problem either.

I hooked up my friend's SSD with windows 8 on it to my pc, but it also froze after some time..
Windows 7 freezes also in safe mode.
But ubuntu works fine. If it was a software problem, it woudn't happen on windows 8 on another harddrive?
And if it was a hardware problem ubuntu would also freeze?

The weird this is that this happened before to me. But it went away before I did anything.

My system is:
CPU- AMD FX 8320 8-core
GPU- Nvidia Geforce GTX 760 MSI
Motherboard- ASRock 970 Pro3 R2.0
RAM- Crucial Ballistix Tactical 4GB x2 1600 Mhz
PSU - XFX core edition pro 550 Watt ATX 12v

Sorry for my English.
Any help is appreciated.

(I suspect the motherboard, but my system is less than one year old, so how can these things break so quickly?)
