I shut my computer down last evening due to severe thunderstorms.
During the shut down, Windows had to configure 12 updates and warned me not to turn off or unplug the computer.
I impatiently waited for the update to complete and then unplugged everything.
Pretty sure I didn't get zapped.
It is an HP, BTW
When the storm passed, I plugged in and restarted, it just sat there at the HP screen.
I pushed "ESC" to get to the startup menu and it took me to a very basic info screen with a prompt to hit "ESC" again which gave me a menu which included start windows normally, diagnostics and a few things.
I tried Start Windows normally.
It took forever and showed the Windows logo and a scrolling process bar.
Eventually, I got a prompt for startup repair (twice)
Eventually, it booted but it still freezes on the HP startup and requires me to go through this same process.
I did run malwarebytes and msconfig/startup as well as ccleaner
I did find a couple of bad things in the startup which I unchecked
I had to remove search.conduit
Any suggestions on where to go from here will be greatly appreciated
