For about three weeks my internet connection on my PC, which is wifi, has been going in and out. I haven't tried a wired connection to see if it'd fix the problem only because it would be a little difficult for me to do so. I can go on the internet for a half hour or even 5 minutes before I realize it's not going as fast or not connecting at all. However, it doesn't say "No Connection" or "Limited Connection" but I do notice the Activity (in Wireless Network Connection) is very low when this happens. I've Diagnosed the connection in Wireless Network Connection and the result is this: Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding. I even thought maybe if I used one of the other browsers it would work. Firefox, Chrome, IE, Safari all have issues.
My laptop, which runs Windows 8 and wifi, doesn't have this problem at all. Our cellphones don't have a problem either when they're connected to wifi. So I don't think it's the wifi. I've reset the router many times. I also bought a brand new wifi adapter for the PC. Normally I have it plugged in the front USB but switched it to the back of the tower -- still no change.
The ONLY thing I've changed lately is wirelessly connecting my laptop and PC to the PS3 which works well connecting PS3 to the laptop. It connects to the PC also but I've never tried playing anything off it. Honestly, I messed with so many things on the computers that I forget what I even did. I know I messed with homegroups and such but I don't think I screwed with the connection itself.
I've ran virus scans and everything comes back fine. So I'm somewhat at a loss. I really hate to have to reinstall Windows and sadly I have no restore point for some reason, at all.
If you need any specs on the comp just tell me. I'd appreciate any ideas.
