Windows updates

I keep getting a flag in my bottom toolbar and when I click on it I get a message to say I have important updates and should install them so I do. They appear to install correctly then in a few minutes the flag is back inviting me to install new updates. If I do this cycle continues until I just ignore it which I am loath to do.

I also cannot perform a recovery using recovery manager which I wanted to do to maybe alleviate the above p0roblem

Please assist me.
