control key stays stuck until reboot

Such a loss to need to reboot after I use the control key
I get the items selected and the zip made and I let go of the control key can not name the zip
IT LOOKS LIKE IT LET GO BUT IT DID NOT
I hit enter 5 times still is stuck
I hit escape it is still stuck
I must reboot and hope every thing is saved and I can find it
