Force HDMI output

I have a gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H motherboard with onboard radeon hd4200. It has built in HDMI out. The trouble that I am having is that at times, randomly it wont detect anything being detected over HDMI and will swap over to VGA mode. Best case scenario I would like to force HDMI output no matter what, if not I was able to connect a VGA cable to my display however the resolution is different. If I must do it split like this I would like to be able to run two separate resolutions. I would like 1080p over the hdmi and 1600 x 1200 over VGA as opposed to being forced to max out the VGA resolution and carry it over to the HDMI, Thanks for the help.
I have already swapped out HDMI cables.
