I have an old computer that I'm struggling with for sentimental/financial reasons. Originally I had a 160 hard drive that I had everything on but this hard drive became slightly damaged. I still have storage stuff on it, but it gets very noisy and lethargic when I do anything. Programs stopped working and my computer became a zombie. I was told by a technician to change my hard drive and run Windows anew.
I have a brand new hard drive though, so I installed Windows 7 on it from another computer and I put it first as the "master" and put my old hard rive as the slave.
I've done this before on other computers with no hassle, but this time I'm stuck in an infinite reboot loop. I get as far as the "starting windows" logo when it cuts off and restarts again. It tells me windows was unable to start and I can either start normally or choose start up repair.
If I pick start up repair I get the option to system restore. Either way whether I restore or not, it restarts and cuts off by "starting windows" logo. If I don't go with start up repair and try to start normally, it still restarts at the "starting windows" logo.
Help please. I'm dead in the water. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
