In 2011, my daughter aquired an HP Probook 6555b in connection with a college class she was taking. The computer came with Windows 7 preinstalled. The college uninstalled Windows 7 and installed XP so the computers would be compatable with their class programs. Now that she has finished her classes, we/I reinstalled Windows 7 using the disks that came with the computer. Everything works fine except for the wifi. I used the Driver Recovery Disk to install/reinstall the Ethernet driver to no avail. I am able to connect to the internet via an ethernet cable. Prior to upgrading to Windows 7 the wifi worked just fine. Divice Manager says the Marvell Yukom 88E8059 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller is working properly.
I downloaded AVG free anti-virus and ran a scan, 3 threats were detected (adware) and removed. When I upgraded to Windows a file named 'Windows.old' was placed on Local Disk C. That is where the threats were located.
HP Probook 6555b
Processor: AMD Turion II N530 Dual-Core Processor 2.50 GHz
32-bit OS
Windows 7 Professional
I am not sure what other steps I need to take to fix this issue. I will do my best to provide any additional informaiton you might need. Thank you in advance for your help.
