Okay. So. This is a very long story pertaining to this computer, and it has given me so many problems that I feel as if I am prepared to break down. I am typing from my tablet, so I apologize for misspells. I will number the events, leading up to current events.
1. I make a fresh build for my best friend. The computer is composed of:
-MSI-770t-c35 motherboard
-Phenom II x4 2.3Ghz processor
-EVGA 600w power supply with 80% bronze efficiency
-GeForce 9800 GTX+ GPU
-8 GB of ddr2 800 ADATA ram. 4 x 2GB
-SATA 250GB 7200rpm Deskstar hard drive
2. Had a spare Windows XP SP1 OEM. Installed to hard drive. Computer booted up and ran it perfectly. However, we couldn't update from SP1 due to problems with WiFi incompatible with service pack one, so it was impossible to update. Decided to install Windows 7, which I prefer.
3. Installed windows 7. Installation went perfectly. Loaded up into the desktop, then froze 15-20 seconds in. I restarted the PC. Same thing. Happened over many restarts. Decided to reinstall windows 7. I did this twice, both with same results with freezing screens.
4. Took apart entire computer and rebuilt it, wondering if it was simply a poor connection. No change.
5. I attempt to repair windows using the OEM. I leave the room while it "repairs". I return to a blue screen (BSOD). It says the familiar "Your computer has been... If this is the first time you have seen this..." Etc. It doesn't give an error number, just states to restart. I restart the computer...
6. Computer decides to become a practical paperweight. Says that system32 files on my windows 7 are corrupt, when they were not previously. Many different system32 files, from drivers to boot agents. All corrupt.
7. I don't panic. Heck, I can just reinstall them, right?(wrong.) I load in my windows seven OEM and it blue screens after it unloads its information. I try a windows recovery disc from my friends computer. It blue screens as well. There is no way to get past the blue screen to do a repair. It is usually a blue screen of a missing system32 boot agent.
8. I say "Forget windows. Ahhh, Ubuntu will save me!" No.
Upon loading the Ubuntu disc, which I have used to successfully install Ubuntu before, it shows the familiar Ubuntu logo for a moment before going to a page full of seemingly random numbers and letters, ending with a indication of a bad kernel.
Long story short, a lot of blue screens and unable to install OS or repairs. I tried to do a memory diagnostic and it froze halfway in and my computer parts began heating heavily so I turned it off. And so, here I am, at your mercy. Please help me. I will get specific blue screen information soon, as I am going to retry.
Oh, and somewhere in there my 600watt power supply blew out and I had to return it to Evga. Of all the bad luck, I guess.
