blinking HDD Led and some activity

This is the same computer I was working on. all is well with one minor exception, there is activity that goes on after the OS loads. You can both see the blinking lights and hear the HDD (I think) working. It seems to stop after five or so minutes. It IS NOT the type of grinding one hears with a dying HDD.
