Asus laptop won't start windows normally

Hi -

I have an Asus Zenbook Ux31 running Windows 7. Today I was checking my email when it suddenly shut down. It was plugged in, so I knew it wasn't a battery issue or anything. On starting up again, it gave me the screen telling me the shut down was incomplete and asking me to choose what to boot up. When I choose to start windows normally, it loads for about 5 seconds, then immediately turns off. Turning it back on returns me to the same screen. Safe mode is working fine, but I can't seem to uninstall any of my programs on safe mode - windows explorer always crashes when I click uninstall on any program (I thought I might delete any new program that could be causing the problems).

I've tried a couple different things that I've seen suggested online already - I've played around with the options on the advanced boot menu, and none that I tried worked (I tried last good configuration and debugging mode, but the computer still shut down about 5 seconds after selecting either).

Any suggestions on what I can do to figure what's causing the problem? I really need to be able to run windows fully sometime soon. Thanks in advance.
