P.C will not boot to windows after power out

The electricity in my house shut down, the P.C was turned on, now when I start the system it will not reach the windows screen and says "no Drives detected" on start up. BIOS recognizes the drive but nothing else, I can not start in safe mode etc. My motherboard is a asus p5p43td which I had issues with when I bought it so I can only assume that the battery is dead and the power out has cleared my settings possibly? The hard disk seems totally fine as all of the information is still on it (I can see it through EZflash)
Any help as to how to fix this would be much appreciated, any time I try to boot from my USB disc drive with the windows disc the computer simply restarts and begins the process all over again.

Motherboard: asus p5p43td
Graphics card: nvidia sparkle 9500gt 1gb
Power supply: ATX 500w
Ram: 8gb (2x 4) pc3-10660
HD: Seagate Barracuda 7200 12

again any help is massively appreciated.
