This is a friend's laptop (Sony vaio), windows 7 home premium edition. Apparently, after it developed some issues, a colleague reformatted the drive, and could not reinstall the OS.
I have tried the following:
- Tried to use the two recovery dvds created when the computer was purchased. It does not work. The screen is blank. In safe mode, it goes tries to the recovery mode, but then nothing happens.
- Tried to use the .iso image from Microsoft and burnt it to a dvd. The screen asks for the language and the country etc., then after it says install windows, the screen remains at setting up. Nothing happens.
-Tried to use my windows 7 "update" dvd to start the laptop. Same result as for the .iso image.
Grateful for any help. The laptop has a separate "one touch web access without booting up" key, and that brings the internet up with a "slapshot" browser.
