First, I don't understand why my posted question is gone.

Here it is again: Am trying to link my Win7 computer to a home group with my new Win8 computer. Cannot get Win7 to connect due to "Unable to open Service Control Manager". I have no knowledge of networks, and reading about it online is confusing.

Can someone offer advice for a simple mind here?
